Williamson pulled his quadriceps muscle while training ahead of their first match against RCB, David Warner said after their loss. While there’s no update on his availability, SRH will hope he returns soon given the inexperience in their middle order.

Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the IPL 2020 due to an injury he sustained in their first match over Royal Challengers Bangalore. West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder will replace him in the squad. Marsh injured his ankle and had to walk off the field after bowling just four balls in the first innings of the game. He walked out to bat in a desperate situation for SRH at No. 10 and fell for a first-ball 0, trying for a big shot.

The IPL 2020 is only five matches long, but it has already seen plenty of injuries. Blame it on the lockdown effect or anything else, some key players have struggled with injuries, some of them freak, already.

13:28 (IST)

Kings XI Punjab have some interesting calls to make today. Do they run out of patience with Nicholas Pooran so soon? Chris Gayle is waiting. What about Chris Jordan? Will Mujeeb get a game?

Meanwhile, here’s Steve Smith doing an MS Dhoni.

12:24 (IST)

Kohli is the playmaker for the RCB at Number 3 and the leading run-getter in the history of the IPL. He has scored 5426 runs in 170 innings at an average of 37.68 and strike rate of 131.53 including 5 hundreds and 36 fifties. Mohammed Shami was in splendid form against Delhi Capitals – not only did he pick three wickets but was also difficult to get away delivering 15 dot deliveries. The battle between the Indian national team captain against one of his best wicket-taking strikers will be an enthralling one!

12:13 (IST)

Glenn Maxwell has the 4th highest strike rate of 160.5 in IPL history and is regarded as one of the most destructive batsmen in limited-overs’ cricket.

He has been in tremendous form of late and scored a match-winning 108 off just 90 deliveries (from 73 for 5) pulling off a thrilling three-wicket win in the series decider against England at Old Trafford. His battle with Yuzvendra Chahal in the middle overs will be crucial in decide the outcome of the match. Chahal is RCB’s highest wicket-taker in the IPL and a wicket-taker in the middle overs. He also has one of the highest ratios of dot balls per over in the history of the IPL. Chahal has a great record against KXIP and has taken 19 wickets against them at 16 apiece at a sensational strike rate of 12.4!

12:00 (IST)

KL Rahul is the highest run-getter (combined) in the last two editions of the IPL (2018 and 2019) while Dale Steyn is the most restrictive fast bowler in the history of the IPL with an economy rate of 6.78. Both did not get off to a great start in their opening matches – Rahul wasn’t at his fluent best while Steyn was unusually expensive. Their battle in the powerplay could dictate the course of the match. The South African pacer is just three wickets short of 100 in the IPL while Rahul is just away from 2000.

11:50 (IST)

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clash with Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) tomorrow in Dubai. We look at some of the key match-ups between the two sides.

11:24 (IST)

RCB, who are yet to lay their hands on the coveted trophy in 12 attempts, will hope for a repeat of another spectacular opening from Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch. It was young Devdutt who smoked 56 off 42 deliveries to set the tone against SRH. With the likes of Kohli and South African superstar AB de Villiers in the middle order, another mouth-watering contest is on cards.

11:17 (IST)

In the other camp, Kohli’s RCB will be high on confidence after kicking-off their campaign with a 10-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). However, RCB has their own problems to overcome, especially in the pace department. Lethal South African pacer Dale Steyn did manage a wicket. However, the 37-year-old was nowhere close to his best. UmeshYadav also disappointed after leaking 48 runs from four overs and remaining wicketless. Navdeep Saini and Shivam Dube were on target, picking up two wickets each, but it was leg-spinner YuzvendraChahal who took full advantage of the prevailing conditions and emerged as the ‘game-changer’ with three scalps.

11:01 (IST)

On Thursday, KXIP will aim to revisit their over dependence on the opening combo of Rahul and Agarwal, and expect the middle order, comprising Karun Nair, Glenn Maxwell and Nicholas Pooran, to fire. While the self-proclaimed ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle was not included in the playing XI against DC, the KXIP team management might bring him in a move to bolster the middle order by pushing the in-form Agarwal to No.3. In bowling department, in-form pacer Mohammed Shami will once again try to replicate his previous performance where he had returned with impressive figures of 3/15.

10:54 (IST)

Against DC, Punjab rode on MayankAgarwal’s blistering 60-ball 89 to approach the 158-run target. While the other Punjab players failed to leave an impact, and the team suffering hiccups at regular intervals, it was Mayank who single-handedly propelled Punjab and very nearly sealed a win. However, just when KXIP was on the brink of a win, needing just one off three deliveries, they ended up losing two wickets, and eventually the contest slipped into the Super Over. Later, in the Super Over, Kagiso Rabada ensured the night belonged to DC.

10:46 (IST)

Ahead of their Thursday’s clash, if Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) looked for motivation from their head-to-head IPL record, they would have been a bit disappointed as little separated the two teams; both have won 12 matches each since the IPL began in 2008. After enduring umpiring errors, followed by a Super Over heartbreak, in their campaign opener against Delhi Capitals (DC), the KL Rahul-led KXIP would look open their account against Virat Kohli’s RCB at the Dubai International Cricket stadium here on Thursday.

10:41 (IST)

Hello and welcome to day of IPL 2020 where RCB will face off against KXIP. Rcb had resgistered a comfortable win in their first match, while Punjab are coming after a loss in their opening encounter. Let’s start the day with all the points that made news today.

KXIP vs RCB Predicted XI Live Updates IPL 2020: Williamson pulled his quadriceps muscle while training ahead of their first match against RCB, David Warner said after their loss. While there’s no update on his availability, SRH will hope he returns soon given the inexperience in their middle order.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will battle it out in Dubai on September 24th coming into the match with completely contrasting moods. Kohli’s men will be upbeat after making a winning start in IPL 2020 with their 10-run win against SRH. On the other hand, KXIP will have to put the Super Over defeat against Delhi Capitals behind them – easier said than done as it was a match which they should have won in normal course but made a mess of it. Then the issue of being hard done by the short run would still be lingering in the minds of some players. RCB would be happy that they were able to put together a par score against SRH even without a significant contribution from skipper, Kohli. The batting will be dependent on the top 4 and hoping that the likes of Finch and Padikkal continue to fire at the top. The fast bowling is a bit of a worry for RCB as both Steyn and Umesh Yadav were taken for plenty in the last encounter. However, with an economy rate of 6.78, the South African legend is amongst the most restrictive pacers in the history of the IPL. Yuzvendra Chahal will be the trump card in the middle overs while Kohli would do well to use Washington Sundar more judiciously.

Much will depend on the opening duo of skipper, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwak for KXIP. The former is the leading run-getter of the previous two editions (2018 & 2019, combined) of the IPL. KXIP might be tempted to include the Universal Boss – Chris Gayle – in the playing XI after leaving him out of the opening fixture. In that case, Rahul could bat at number 3 and Pooran might be left out. Gauging by his tremendous form in the recently concluded ODI series against England, maybe the think-tank at KXIP would consider giving a promotion to Glenn Maxwell up the order. Jordan was expensive against Delhi Capitals and could gave way to James Neesham. The onus of the bowling would lie on Cottrell and Shami who were outstanding in the first match.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) – Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli (captain), Ab de Villiers, Shivam Dube, Josh Philippe (wk), Washington Sundar, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Dale Steyn, Yuzvendra Chahal

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) – Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, KL Rahul (captain & wk), Karun Nair, Glenn Maxwell, Sarfaraz Khan, Krishnappa Gowtham, James Neesham, Mohammed Shami, Sheldon Cottrell, Ravi Bishnoi
